Catholic Eagles Chaplain

Fr. Jason Adams

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings Catholic Eagles! My name is Father Jason Patrick Adams, and I am excited to begin my new chapter here at Georgia Southern serving as your new chaplain. While a student at nearby Valdosta State, I encountered more Catholics that were my age by getting involved in the Catholic Student Newman Center. Through the Newman Center and intercollegiate retreats, my faith was enriched and supported to sustain me through the challenges and self-discovery of the college experience. When I finally had my epiphany that I was doing what I wanted to do and not asking God what He wanted me to do, I finally opened up to discerning the priesthood.

For the last three years, I have been serving back at my Alma Mater as chaplain to Valdosta State University. Campus ministry is very humbling and rewarding because as a chaplain, I get to accompany students trying to make their faith their own or begin asking questions about their faith without judgment or condemnation. It is a time of intellectual curiosity and self-growth. No one forgets their time at college and during this crucial time, it is important that our Catholic Student Centers provide a solid anchor and home for fellowship, outreach, and knowledge of the Catholic faith. Georgia Southern has always been known as the standard in our Diocese of ideal campus ministry I look forward to seeing for myself the good work that has allowed this ministry to soar.

My prayer is that all who come across any Catholic Eagle or sponsored event know that Christ is alive, that no one walks alone, and that all are welcomed. God bless you and I look forward to serving with you all.

Hail Mary, Hail Southern,

Fr. Jason P. Adams

Chaplain
